Biography
She was born and raised in Oakland, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area but has always been attracted by the world at large. After attending college at The George Washington University, in Washington DC, and working on Wall Street in New York City, she followed her passion and went the Middle East. In Cairo, Egypt she obtained her post-graduate degree in Middle Eastern Studies, at The American University in Cairo. The tumultuous nature of the region inspired her to start a career in journalism. From Cairo, Mimi covered internationally based business in the Middle East for the American Chamber of Commerce and other regional publications, before she moved on to cover natural gas and biotechnology for the London based Financial Times Business Publications. She also worked as a freelance editor for various locally based academic American publications. Upon her return to the Bay Area, she began working for a major local publisher, now known as the Bay Area Newsgroup, covering a variety of topics including politics, education and economic issues. She is now a correspondent for the local newspaper the Montclarion. She also works in collaboration with photographer Frederic Neema on feature stories about American life for publications world-wide. Mimi focuses on issues that affect her community, in realm of political, safety, educational, economic and business. |
